ScreenGrabs: ‘SPECTRE’ Teaser Trailer

Spectre-collage

“You’re a kite dancing in a hurricane, Mr. Bond”

It’s here. At long last. Sony Pictures and EON Productions have released the first teaser trailer for SPECTRE, the 24th entry in the James Bond franchise.

The teaser’s a definition of a tease, with cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema (Interstellar, Her, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) really amping up the atmospheric feel (in keeping with the sinister organization of the title). I’m not going to say anything else other than it’s whet my appetite.

I wasn’t a huge fan of Skyfall (count me in the Casino Royale is superior camp) but I admired the intelligence and heft that director Sam Mendes brought to that film, and by extension, the franchise. From the looks of it, SPECTRE will be continuing that trend.

Boilerplate:
A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.

Directed by Mendes from a screenplay by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, SPECTRE stars Daniel Craig, Christoph Waltz, Léa Seydoux, Monica Bellucci, David Bautista, Andrew Scott, Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris and Rory Kinnear.
